I believe in reading…a lot.
As a “baby” Christian I have gone head over feet into reading. I’ve found a few books on my own, but mostly I have read what my brother has been throwing at me, because he likes to read too! 🙂 I will add new books as I read them.
The number 1 book that should be on your reading list is the Holy Bible. It is your manual for living. Your “food” as a Christian. Everything else is just icing.
- I suggest reading the Bible through several times in an easier translation. Reading it through in the Easy-To-Read Version (ERV) or the New International Version (NIV) a few times makes it easier for when you hit the big time with the King James Version.
I’ve read many books by Joyce Meyer. “Living Beyond Your Feelings” is one of my favorites by her. As is, “The Battlefield of the Mind.” She is a confident woman who has overcome many horrible things in her life. Some think she is too agressive, but I think her “spitfire” attitude is just what I need somedays!
Joel Osteen is an outstanding motivator and encouraging man to listen preach! He has many devotionals and books on staying hopeful and speaking favor and blessings into our lives. I’m going to be starting on this book, “I Declare” soon.
- If you love getting the Word on your phone, Joel Osteen has an app that is full of daily messages and podcasts. This app is free in the Play Store.
Keep Your Love On by Danny Silk has been especially helpful to me. It’s got great (real world!) advice about communication and connecting in close relationships. This has been helpful not only with my husband, but with my kids, siblings, and close friends.
Jesus Calling, Enjoying Peace In His Presence by Sarah Young is a 365 day devotional that I’m absolutely in LOVE with! Each morning I read this it helps me to get the day started on the right foot! This book is full of helpful info of His Peace, His Presence, and His Love.
